AFSCME is hosting a Sacramento Area Basic Steward training on May 2, 2026. Now is the time to learn about your rights and effectuate positive change in the workplace. We will work with you during the training on how to enforce our contract and make meaningful change. Training details are as follows: 

• When: Saturday, May 2, 2026

• Where: SETA, 925 Del Paso Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815

• Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

• Lunch Provided

• PLEASE NOTE: No overnight lodging will be provided.

After the training you will know:

• Roles and responsibilities of union stewards

• Understanding your rights

• Filing a grievance

• Navigating your contract and the Duty of Fair Representation

• Open discussion with Business Agents about current issues.

We will also focus on leadership development. You'll learn strategies for:

• Member engagement and organizing

• Strengthening your local union’s impact
