Upcoming Rerun Election for AFSCME Local 2620 President
https://conta.cc/3ZsKpO9
We are writing to inform you that AFSCME International’s Judicial Panel has ordered a rerun of the runoff election for the office of President of Local 2620. This decision follows the investigation and review of formal election protests submitted by members and observers regarding the most recent election.
The Judicial Panel upheld three of the protest items related to the rerun election. Specifically, the Panel found:
That mailed notice of the election was not provided to members at least 15 days in advance of the start of voting, as required by AFSCME’s election procedures.
That the order of candidate names on the ballot was not corrected despite prior guidance, resulting in a ballot sequence inconsistent with election standards.
That these procedural issues warranted a new rerun election to ensure fairness and adherence to AFSCME’s constitutional requirements.
The Panel has ordered that the rerun of the runoff election be conducted within 45 days of the June 4, 2025, decision and that it take place under the supervision of the International Union.
