Update Regarding Local 2620 Leadership Matter
We are writing to share an important update in the interest of transparency and to ensure our members have accurate information.
On February 26, 2026, the International Union issued a formal letter regarding the temporary suspension of the Northern Vice President, Eric Young. Following an investigation by International staff, the International President determined that the Local Executive Board had sufficient grounds to impose the suspension under the AFSCME International Constitution.
It is important for members to know that this action is procedural in nature. The suspension does not represent a finding of guilt or innocence. Formal charges have now been filed, and consistent with the International Constitution, the suspension will remain in effect while the matter proceeds through the established judicial process to ensure fairness and due process.
This step was taken to protect the integrity, stability, and proper functioning of the local union while the matter is addressed. Throughout this process, the focus remains on safeguarding members’ interests, union resources, and democratic practices.
Local 2620 continues its work on behalf of members without interruption. Your representation, advocacy, and contractual priorities remain our top focus.
Thank you for your continued engagement, patience, and solidarity.
In unity,
AFSCME Local 2620 Leadership
