Brothers and Sisters,

I want to share an important update with the membership of Local 2620. Following the recent resignation of our previous president, the executive board met and I was nominated and selected to serve as Interim President of Local 2620.

I am grateful for the confidence the board has placed in me, and I take this responsibility seriously. Our union exists to protect the rights of our members, enforce our contract, and ensure that workers have a strong voice in the workplace. My commitment is to continue that work with transparency, stability, and a focus on the needs of our membership.

For those who may not know me, I have been actively involved in Local 2620 as a Chief Facility Steward and advocate for our members. In my professional career I am a social worker in the Psychiatric Inpatient Program (PIP) at the California Health Care Facility (CHCF) with over 20 years of public service in various capacities. I am committed to advocating for fairness, accountability, and respect in the workplace. I believe strongly that unions are most effective when members are informed, engaged, and united.

Over the coming weeks, my priority will be to work closely with our executive board, stewards, and members to ensure Local 2620 continues to provide strong representation and support for our membership. I also encourage members to stay engaged with their union and reach out if they have concerns or ideas about how we can continue strengthening Local 2620.

Thank you for your continued solidarity and commitment to our union.

In solidarity,

Carl L Miller JD, LCSW (MA), LCSW (CA)

Interim President

AFSCME Local 2620
