Local 2620 at the Capitol: Supporting AB 2223

This past Wednesday (4/8/2026), I had the opportunity to testify at the State Capitol in support of AB 2223 alongside Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal and UAPD President Dr. Stuart Bussey. As Interim President of AFSCME Local 2620 and a frontline clinician, I spoke to the real impacts that increased reliance on contracted staff is having on our workforce and the quality of care in our facilities.

This bill is a critical step toward ensuring transparency, accountability, and better long-term decision-making for both state workers and the communities we serve.

Here is the link to the full hearing video. My testimony starts at 3:03:35

I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Lobby Days.
